About KCS Custom Lures

I've been fishing my entire life.  I started off fishing the beaches of So Cal at 2 years old.  The main target at the time was Barred Surf Perch using sand crabs or blood worms from Wylie's in Malibu.  Heavy rods, reels and lines were used back then with sand spikes.  I also started fishing for trout in the streams of Inyo County in the Sierras around the same time.  When I got to be in junior high, I though of something that I'd never seen anybody do in perch fishing- I started using my trout gear to fish for Barred Surf Perch.  8 pound line, 1/2 oz sinkers, smaller hooks and also started to walk up and down the beach much more.  I started outfishing every single person I was with and saw.  These moments planted the revolution in my mind of light line fishing.  During that entire time, finding sand crabs for bait was hit or miss depending on the tides.  Early thoughts of an idea came into my mind as I thought of how to have some sort of bait or lure to mimic a sand crab.  This idea was more solidified when I moved to San Diego for work and caught plenty of large Corbina, Spotfin Croaker and other species on sand crabs in very shallow water.  The complete opposite of what everybody told me to do.  I started sketching designs for an innovative sand crab crankbait after I'd moved to New York many years later and finally decided it was time to sculpt and produce the world's first sand crab hard bait.  March of 2019 was when I first released the KCS OG sand crab crank bait and it's been catching fish on both coasts of the United States since.
